It is standard operating procedure at this point for Joe Biden to appear a little (or a lot) lost and out of sorts during public engagements, so much so that on the rare occasion that he does give a coherent speech his administration and his apologists in the mainstream press will point to it as supposed evidence that "everything's fine, move along, nothing to see."
Except an overwhelming majority of Americans have made clear they aren't buying it, and something that happened during a visit Biden made to North Carolina on Thursday only bolsters their case.
Biden was in my home state to tout "$82 million in new investments that would connect 16,000 households and businesses to high-speed internet."
But during the speech he gave in Raleigh, North Carolina's capital city, Biden had a concerning moment where he called out for Congresswoman Deborah Ross (D-N.C.), whom he said he'd taken a photo with earlier.
Except... she wasn't there and couldn't be there
Biden recognizes Rep. Deborah Ross: "Where's Deborah? I just had my picture taken with her ... Oh, she couldn't be here, actually. That's not true.
Biden's confusion over claiming he'd had a photo taken with a member of Congress who wasn't present during his trip was eerily reminiscent of a deeply disturbing moment in September 2022 when he called out for Rep. Jackie Walorski (R-Ind.) during a White House hunger, nutrition, and health conference.
“Jackie, are you here? Where’s Jackie?” he asked as he looked around the room for Walorski, who had been the co-chair of the House Hunger Caucus. Unfortunately, she was not in attendance because she along with two Congressional aides tragically passed away a month and a half earlier after a car accident in Indiana.
